TRILUX at the 85th Hahnenkamm Races

Smart lighting concept for the legendary ski event

Arnsberg/ Kitzbühel, February 2025 - As the official lighting partner of the Hahnenkamm Races, TRILUX has been illuminating the Streif since 2019, delivering a fresh lighting concept each year for the KITZ-RACE-Club, the start house, and temporary piste lighting. This prestigious event provides the perfect stage for showcasing TRILUX’s latest innovations, including the Yonos and Rail systems, along with custom lighting solutions. In 2025, the focus is on smart lighting, sensor integration, lighting management, and cutting-edge design.

Welcome to the club of innovations

The KITZ-RACE-Club is an exclusive multi-storey pop-up venue, constructed each year near the finish line of the Hahnenkamm Races. As the long-standing lighting partner, TRILUX once again takes the opportunity to showcase the future of lighting. Visitors are welcomed outside the club by two Sojourn light steles from TRILUX Manufaktur, which mark the entrance with a striking RGBW light sail, creating an inviting and dynamic ambience. Inside, TRILUX’s Yonos and Rail lighting innovations demonstrate the versatility of modular, intelligent lighting systems. The Yonos lighting system ensures a seamless experience, featuring Ribbon pendant luminaires above the counter and Lenty spotlights. Meanwhile, the staircase to the upper level is transformed into an architectural feature with an L-shaped Rail track lighting installation, elegantly integrated into the walls.

Smartness wherever the eye looks

For years, the LiveLink Premium lighting management system has been an integral part of TRILUX’s approach at the KITZ-RACE-Club, enabling features such as Human Centric Lighting (HCL) (HCL) and customised lighting scenes in the KITZ-BEAUTY-Club for precision makeup lighting. This year, for the first time external sensors were also integrated into the LiveLink network, which generate data beyond lighting control. Among other things, the air quality (CO2 levels), temperature and noise levels were measured in central areas such as the KITZ Lounge and the Gösser Stubn. “We are demonstrating how a smart lighting network can serve as an infrastructure backbone for IoT applications, collecting valuable data for optimised building management explains Joachim Geiger, CSO and CMO at TRILUX. Another unique feature this year is the networked mesh table and floor lamps, used to illuminate areas where traditional ceiling lighting isn’t feasible, such as the main tent’s “bunks” and the gallery. In the lounge areas, Living MD floor lamps with yellow textile shades create a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Lighting the Piste – an endurance test in outdoor areas

Beyond the event venues, TRILUX once again proves its expertise in outdoor lighting by illuminating the Streif itself. The start house lighting was upgraded to smart, energy-efficient LED technology in 2021, and TRILUX also provides the temporary piste lighting — set up specifically for the duration of the race. “With our lighting solutions, we ensure optimal working conditions for the evening and night-time piste conversions, such as switching from slalom to super-G,” says Riccardo Wegner, Product Management Outdoor. Key solutions include Lumena Plus planar floodlights and Lumena Fit, all integrated with the LiveLink Outdoor light management system. The extreme weather conditions presented challenges during installation and commissioning, with temperatures well below freezing and steep, demanding terrain. “A major advantage of the system is that, unlike previous years where luminaires had to be switched on manually on-site, each light point is now controlled via a light management app. This significantly reduces setup time and speeds up operations on the piste,” adds Wegner.
