TRILUX Lights Hereford's Passivhaus Archive

TRILUX were appointed to provide the lighting throughout the first UK Record and Archive Centre in Hereford to achieve Passivhaus certification.

The first UK Record and Archive Centre in Hereford to achieve Passivhaus certification has recently been completed by Architype architects. The £8.1million project provides an environmentally responsible facility for the public to access 7800 collections of local historic records, dating back to the 12th Century. 

Working closely with the project group, TRILUX were appointed to provide the lighting throughout the facility.  

In the archive rooms special care had to be taken to preserve the records whilst still delivering the necessary lux levels. TRILUX’s powerhouse continuous line system E-Line was used  with a UV sleeve to achieve 6.11W/m2/100lx. 

The focal point of the centre, the atrium, serves as an exhibition space for public visitors. DALI enabled Oktalite spotlights were utilised on 3 circuit track connected to a DALI dynamic touch panel to allow complete control of groups and scenes by the centre’s staff. 

In the office spaces, which house the archive’s employees, the 5051 continuous line louvered system achieves 2.00W/m2/100lx.
