The renovation of the Haarstrang Nord service area on the A44 addressed several issues, including insufficient truck parking, outdated facilities, and a lack of electric charging points. Following extensive modernization, the area now has nearly 100 truck parking spaces, spaces for buses and heavy goods vehicles, newly installed charging points and an additional restroom facility. The lighting has also been upgraded to state-of-the-art LED technology. The selection criteria included the highest quality of light and efficiency and light that was as insect-friendly as possible - the luminaire of choice: our Jovie 70.
Given its round-the -clock use and for safety reasons, the area’s lighting remains in continuous operation during the hours of darkness. Insect-friendly lighting was an important consideration; here, the Jovie luminaire scores highly in several ways. Its intelligent design prevents stray light from being reflected into the upper atmosphere, IP66 certification keeps insects out, and its low operating temperature ensures insects are not harmed. In addition, customized multi-lens technology (MLT IQ) directs light only where it is needed.
The light color was chosen with local habitats in mind. Autobahn GmbH, responsible for the refurbishment, selected warm white, known to be insect-friendly, opting for 3,000 Kelvin. 65 Jovie 70 LED luminaires now provide appealing and safe illumination across the site, minimizing disruption to local flora and fauna.
The success of the lighting concept in the service area led to identical implementation on the opposite side!
Our side-entry luminaires also show their strengths in urban settings. We have developed a side-entry version of the Jovie luminaire as the ideal replacement for conventional side-entry luminaires widely used in cities. It offers all the advantages of a post-top luminaire but has been optimized for side-entry applications. Perfect for a 1:1 refurbishment of existing 36 and 58 watt solutions without any visual discrepancies across the portfolio. Their consistent design language facilitates large-scale projects with varied pole and lighting requirements.
