As a long-standing lighting partner of the Hahnenkamm Races, we contribute to the winter sports event’s success every year with our lighting solutions. One of the highlights is the lighting concept for the KITZ-RACE-Club. This pop-up venue, created exclusively for the races, is a hotspot for ski enthusiasts and national and international celebrities. Lighting designer Diana Klemm plays a key role in creating the club’s atmosphere and ambience, balancing functional, standard-compliant lighting with a warm and inviting ambience. We asked her what is important when planning lighting and which highlights you should see at the KITZ-RACE-Club this year.
In close collaboration with the client, I create a lighting concept tailored to the space and its use. As a first step, I analyze the required lighting effects and then I pre-select products – sometimes from the standard portfolio, but occasionally involving custom solutions. The next step is the lighting calculation and a 3D visualization of the space, which helps make the lighting design tangible. Finally, I present the concept to the customer and make any necessary adjustments before finalizing the plan.

The KITZ-RACE-Club offers us the opportunity to develop an extraordinary lighting concept thanks to our close cooperation with the architects and the interior designer. As a lighting partner, we have a great deal of creative freedom in product selection and the lighting design of the room. This allows us to showcase our innovations and expertise in lighting design in a special environment.
Guests are greeted at the entrance by our eye-catching Yonos lighting system, which blends decorative and functional elements seamlessly. TheRail linear lighting system in the staircase creates an impressive light installation, while the bar and lounge area ceiling features a ‘swarm’ of custom luminaires from the TRILUX Manufaktur. These luminaires provide the perfect mood lighting, creating a stunning focal point in the room.
Lighting is in fact getting smarter every year. Lighting control via LiveLink and Human Centric Lighting have long been integral parts of the lighting concept, for example the three lighting scenarios in the KITZ-BEAUTY-Club for perfect make-up results. This year, some luminaires are also equipped with sensors to measure air quality, temperature and sound levels, among other things, providing valuable data in spaces like the entrance, the KITZ Lounge, and the Gösser Stubn.
A room should always be experienced holistically. This means considering not just the lighting but also the choice of colors and materials. Personally, my eyes always go to the ceiling. I can’t help but notice glare, annoying glare or the wrong light color – it’s is probably an occupational hazard!
