The demands on outdoor lighting – such as façades, pathways and building surrounds, have grown on many levels. Beyond fulfilling its functional requirements like providing safe visual conditions, building surround lighting is increasingly tasked with aesthetic and design roles. It is now used to highlight unique architectural features in public spaces. Additionally, there are new sustainability and insect-friendly demands on lighting. With our comprehensive outdoor lighting portfolio, you can meet these goals with an easy future-proof solution. One example is our new Osido family, specifically designed for building surroundings.
Building surround lighting achieves the best results when it is holistically planned and tailored to the specific needs of each project. "Ideally, façade, path and parking lot lighting should speak the same language in terms of lighting and design," explains Jörg Van de Loo, Head of Product Management Outdoor at TRILUX. Following this principle, our outdoor luminaires are designed to coordinate within a family, such as the 8841 bollard and column luminaires, or across families, like combining the 8841 bollard luminaire with the ConStela light stele perfect for prestigious areas.
Unsurprisingly, lighting management is becoming increasingly important for building surrounds and outdoor areas. This is because smart control can reduce energy consumption by up to 80 percent compared to old lighting solutions without control while minimizing environmental impact, such as by lowering light levels or using an insect-friendly light color. Cloud-based monitoring and control systems also offer a wide range of options for atmospheric lighting, such as event-dependent lighting scenes. All of this can be easily implemented with our LiveLink lighting management system. Depending on the project requirements, web-based or stand-alone light management systems can be used for areas such as building surrounds, public streets and squares.
One of the highlights of a building's exterior is the illumination of the façade and entrance. Illuminating the building’s features at night not only enhances visibility from afar but also transforms it into a striking visual statement for the company, in effect creating a ‘light calling card’. Two recent exciting projects where we implemented a holistic lighting concept for the building surround demonstrate just how different the interaction between light and architecture can be in practice: the Schuster Objektforum in Bernau am Chiemsee and Elektrohaus Brenner in Nagold’s HQ and showroom.
The building surround lighting market offers enormous potential, and we are expanding our portfolio to meet his demand. Our new Osido family of outdoor lighting is designed to address all the requirements, from façade lighting to pathway illumination, with a consistent and minimalist design language. The first in the series, Osido wall lights, will be available from January 2025. They feature a sleek design with no visible screws, simple one-person installation via plug-and-play, and advanced multi-lens technology that ensures optimal lighting. A unique feature is an indirect lighting component.
