MIPIM, one of the world's leading real estate trade fairs, took place in the iconic setting of Cannes from 11 to 14 March 2025. With over 20,000 participants from more than 90 countries, the event was a hotspot for innovation and trend spotting across the property sector. TRILUX joined the line-up for the first time, presenting intelligent and sustainable lighting solutions at the NRW.GlobalBusiness stand.
A key theme at this year’s MIPIM was the growing importance of ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) criteria in property value assessments. Today, factors like sustainability and operational efficiency are as vital as location. Green building certifications, such as BREEAM or WELL, have become crucial in enhancing the marketability and performance of office buildings. Efficient LED luminaires and lighting management are central to achieving these certifications. TRILUX is actively helping to fulfil these requirements with our smart LED lighting systems that cut energy consumption by up to 85%. In addition to lowering environmental impact, lighting concepts such as Human Centric Lighting (HCL) improve user comfort and well-being with daylight-mimicking light that supports natural rhythms.
Modern lighting systems have long been more than just light sources; they are intelligent data collectors and a key technology for smart buildings. Equipped with integrated sensors, they provide valuable information on building usage and enable optimised control of a wide range of processes. Movement can be visualised as heat maps to identify heavily frequented areas and make cleaning and space utilisation more efficient. Integrated multi-sensor systems record parameters such as temperature, humidity and CO₂ concentrations and actively contribute to optimising the indoor climate. The lighting network becomes a central component of smart building infrastructure in combination with other IoT applications such as cameras or loudspeakers.
TRIPOLIS Park in Amsterdam is a prime example of a sustainable office building. With its BREEAM-NL Outstanding and WELL Platinum certifications, the office campus sets new standards in sustainable design and user comfort. The project focused on three core aspects: sustainability, an optimal working environment and future-oriented technology.
Our intelligent lighting systems played a central role. We supplied over 13,000 energy-efficient light points and a smart lighting control system, which made a significant contribution to energy savings and the well-being of users. The Human Centric Lighting concept ensures optimum lighting conditions. The TRI sensor system, which has been integrated into 3,000 ceiling lights in addition to presence and daylight sensors, is particularly innovative. The sensors continuously record data on temperature, humidity and the number of people in a room and transmit it to the building management system in real time. This information is used to optimise climate control, further reducing energy consumption and helping ensure rooms are used more efficiently.
Jannis Hering, Director International Key Account Management at TRILUX, emphasises, "The trade fair showed how important sustainability and intelligent technologies are for the future of the property sector. With intelligent lighting solutions, TRILUX offers a decisive contribution to the design of tomorrow's buildings.”
