Arnsberg, April 2025 - Ten years ago, TRILUX demonstrated its expertise in lighting management with the launch of LiveLink, its innovative lighting management system. Since then, the system has become an industry benchmark. Today, with more than 100,000 installations across a wide range of industries and applications, LiveLink has proven its performance. “Through close collaboration with our project partners, we’ve continuously evolved LiveLink to meet the market’s needs,” explains Sebastian Ludwig, Head of the Competence Center for Light Management at TRILUX. The latest innovation is a compact LiveLink Premium Controller for medium-sized projects. The next milestone: a hybrid system for DALI and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) luminaires.
In 2013, TRILUX decided to develop its own light management system, drawing on its extensive expertise – built from experience with OEM solutions of its former electronics subsidiary BAG. “For project-specific adaptations or new developments, we were dependent on our suppliers,” explains Sebastian Ludwig. “With our own lighting management system, we were able to define our own standards, service portfolio and technological innovations,” Ludwig continues. LiveLink launched in 2015 with the most essential functionalities and has been continuously refined ever since. A key success factor is its adaptability: LiveLink is based on open technology standards, simplifying development and ensuring seamless integration with systems such as building management platforms. With over 100,000 installations, the system has established itself as a powerful and future-proof solution.
Since its launch, LiveLink has grown from a room-based solution to a flexible system landscape suitable for all building sizes and applications-including freely scalable installations for large-scale projects. Continuous innovation is the key success factor for this development. Milestones such as tablet-based commissioning, automated time-dependent lighting scenes, and pre-programmed Human Centric Lighting (HCL) ) have consistently raised the bar. One major leap came with cloud integration: with services like light monitoring and predictive maintenance, lighting systems can now be managed, optimised, and remotely controlled. The award-winning LiveLink ONE app has taken usability to a new level, combining intuitive commissioning and control with a best-in-class user experience. Recognised with the German Innovation Award 2024 and the iF Design Award 2025, the app now boasts over 10,000 users. TRILUX is continuously developing the hardware of the system landscape, the latest innovation being the new LiveLink Premium Controller in a 6TE housing for medium-sized projects with up to 500 DALI devices.
“Because industry requirements change and technology is constantly evolving, LiveLink never stands still,” reveals Ludwig. The vision is to bring together all lighting control technologies in one system. The LiveLink team is currently developing a hybrid system that can simultaneously process DALI and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) control signals. TRILUX is also actively involved in shaping industry standards as part of the Bluetooth Mesh working group, advocating for an open, manufacturer-independent wireless standard beyond Casambi and ZigBee.
Cybersecurity is another growing priority, especially as the EU Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) introduces strict requirements for protecting connected systems from cyberattacks. From August 2025, all wireless systems must comply, with wired systems to follow by the end of 2027. LiveLink products already meet current standards under the EU Radio Equipment Directive, and TRILUX is working on the necessary updates to ensure full CRA compliance. “Thanks to our internal development capabilities, we can respond quickly and precisely to these evolving needs. LiveLink isn’t just a system for today – it’s built for the future,” Ludwig concludes.
