Lighting customisation

Customised light usually refers to the possibility of adapting the lighting situation to personal needs and requirements (see figure). Demographic change in particular puts this aspect at the centre of attention for experts in the field of labour productivity and occupational safety. Fundamentally, this is due to the factors of illuminance requirements and glare perception changing with age (see also chapter "Vision in old age" ff.)


Lighting customisation is also considered in the LEED certification procedure. This procedure serves to evaluate environmental and humane design aspects of buildings and is based on a US-American rating system (see also chapter ).

 

Figure 3.224: Workstation-specific luminaires and local control/regulation enable customised light. This customisation increases the potential for savings by means of switching-off during times of absence. A reduced light level should also be kept during times of absence to maintain a standard-compliant luminance ratio in the room (see chapter "Luminance distribution").
